As a member of the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) Sustainability Advantage Program, KMH was commissioned to conduct a Level 2 Energy audit at the University of Wollongong in accordance with AS/NZS 3598:2000. The audit covered three University campuses and identified 24% reduction in energy costs. Recommendations varied significantly between them due to the nature of their energy use and current efficiency status. KMH determined the recommended energy efficiency initiatives to achieve annual savings of $185,000, with an average payback period of 3.4 years. In addition to this, KMH was engaged to develop business cases for installing a 1MW solar power system a 65kW co-generation micro turbine, solar hot water, HVAC upgrades and lighting controls.
