Project:Tomerong 330/132 kV Substation & Transmission Lines

Client: TransGrid

Location: Tomerong, South Coast, NSW

Services Provided: Environmental approvals, Feasibility review, Gap Analysis Report

Project Details:
TransGrid and Endeavour Energy (the Proponent) are proposing to construct a new 330/132kV substation at Tomerong on the NSW South Coast and two associated transmission lines to connect to the existing electricity network. The purpose of the project was to provide critical improvements to the security and reliability of electricity supply to the region.

TransGrid have commissioned KMH Environmental to help them obtain the necessary environmental approvals. KMH reviewed the feasibility and planning reports and options considered to date and provided a Gap Analysis Report to identify whether further consideration of options is required prior to selection of the preferred option. The subsequent Preferred Option Report (POR) will:

  • Present the results of the field investigations undertaken and the constraints identified at the Tomerong site;
  • Review and assess the alternative 330 kV transmission line and substation locations;
  • Recommend preferred locations for the 330kV transmission line and substation location options which provide the best environmental outcome for the Project; and
  • Identify any additional work required to confirm the preferred locations.
