Project: Review of the E-Waste Standard

Client: Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities

Location: Australian Capital Territory

Services Provided: Risk Assessment

Project Details:
As part of the Government’s national  product stewardship program, Information Technology (IT) and Television (TV) industry peak bodies have developed an interim standard on collection, storage, transportation and treatment of televisions, computers and computer peripherals to address the management of occupational health and safety and environmental issues when handling television and computer waste.  KMH carried out an independent review of the standard, encompassing a risk assessment and cost implications of its implementation.  This has provided Government with clear recommendations about the impacts of the scheme, and how the OH&S and environmental risks inherent in the handling of these items can be appropriately managed.
