Newcastle City Council Waste Audit, Strategy & Planning
Newcastle City Council (NCC) (www.ncc.nsw.gov.au) is one of the larger Australian councils on the NSW coast and operate the largest regional waste facilities in the Hunter region.
NCC engaged KMH to review their waste collection services and the Summerhill landfill site to develop a range of approaches to gain efficiency and environmental improvements.
KMH delivered a strategic report to Council which was adopted in December 2009 and is now being implemented through a range of innovative initiatives including changes to the fleet, collection technology and bin systems.
The outcome of these reforms will provide major cost savings to council, major waste diversion and improve service delivery for Newcastle’s residents.
