NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System)
What is NABERS?
NABERS is a national rating system that measures the environmental performance of buildings, homes and tenancies. NABERS can be used to measure waste management, energy efficiency, water usage and the quality of indoor environments. The rating system is based on a scale from one to six stars with a six star building being an example of leading performance.
Why get a NABERS rating?
For more than a decade, NABERS has assisted tenants, property owners and building managers to improve their sustainability performance and receive financial savings while building their reputation. Accordingly, many organisations have set a minimum NABERS rating score for their leased offices as a part of their environmental strategies.
Commercial Building Disclosure (CBD)
Commonwealth legislation states that all sellers or lessors of office space of 2,000m² or over must obtain and disclose a current NABERS energy rating for inclusion in their Building Energy Efficiency Certificate (BEEC). For additional information visit www.cbd.com.au
NABERS Waste rating – Leading the Pack
As new buildings such as Barangaroo open and office leasing becomes more competitive, many building managers are examining factors that help their building stand out. NABERS Waste ratings can assist in this area and can identify potential cost saving measures which offer building managers a competitive edge.
KMH can provide a NABERS assessor to assist in your building in gaining a NABERS waste, energy, water or indoor environment rating or to provide advice on how to improve your NABERS rating.
