Australian Packaging Covenant – Are You Compliant?

In July last year, the National Packaging Covenant was replaced by the Australian Packaging Covenant.

All signatories were required to:

  • re-sign the new Australian Packaging Covenant (APC)
  • submit a new action plan by 31 March 2011 (or within 3 months of signing for new signatories)
  • commit to providing annual progress reports to the APC Secretariat.

Action plans must demonstrate how your organisation intends to demonstrate it has addressed the Covenant’s specific key performance indicators which relate to:

  • on-site recovery systems for recycling used packaging
  • a ‘buy recycled’ purchasing policy
  • processes to improve design and recycling of packaging.

How can KMH help?

If you are struggling to meet or maintain your obligations as an APC signatory or are intending to become an APC signatory, KMH Environmental can assist.

Our consultants have a proven track record in interpreting the Covenant requirements and managing the compliance process. Our staff have been engaged by a broad range of Covenant signatories, including one of the country’s largest telecommunication providers, to achieve ongoing compliance and continuous improvement.
