Project details:
Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) are responsible for managing over 10,000 kilometres of the National Interstate Rail network, including 650 kilometres of regional rail links in NSW and the 310 kilometre Hunter Valley Coal Rail network.
KMH prepared, documented and project managed a Preliminary Environmental Assessment (PEA) for the construction and operation of a rail passing loop at Koolbury in the Hunter Valley. The assessment identified the relevance and potential significance of key environmental issues at an early stage in the project development providing valuable input to the client and design team’s decision making process.
The PEA was a desktop exercise that included a site visit and searches of numerous online database registers. An overview of the legislative and planning context was included as well as the identification of any specialist studies or additional information required for the Environmental Assessment.
