KMH participates in the 2009 Global Corporate Challenge Print this page E-mail this page

The Global Corporate Challenge® (GCC) is a corporate health and wellbeing initiative developed specifically for the workplace. The event was created to address the emerging health crisis resulting from the triple threat – longer workdays, sedentary occupations and little or no exercise. GCC is a program that increases staff fitness, promotes teamwork, fosters positive competitive spirit, and supports the workforce to be active, healthy, and more productive.

During the GCC period (125 days from May to September), a team of seven will aim to each walk 10,000 steps every day. Through the GSS website, our steps will be added together and we will 'walk around the world', virtually. The GCC funds vital clinical research into afflictions including heart disease and diabetes, conditions exaserbated by a growing sedentry workforce. In addition to the funds raised by GCC participation, KMH are planning a separate fund raising 'walk to work' event for all KMH staff. Staff will seek sponsorship for their efforts to ditch the car for a day and walk to work. The KMH 'Green Team' will calculate the reduction in C02 emissions for that event, and funds raised will be donated to a needy organisation with a 'green' focus, yet to be decided.
